Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Leslie Eugene Nelson, 33, of Kingman, Wednesday July 6 for possession of a defaced weapon, possession of weapon by prohibited person, felonies, and a misdemeanor warrant for failure to pay fines issued by Kingman Justice Court. Deputies contacted a male subject that was riding a bicycle at Marilyn Drive and Northern Avenue around 10 p.m. The male subject, identified as Nelson, was reportedly reluctant to identify himself as he has an outstanding warrant. A record check confirmed his active warrant. Deputies questioned Nelson about having drugs or weapons in his possession and Nelson advised that he had a gun in his waistband. Nelson was arrested without incident. A computer check showed Nelson to have a prior felony arrest. During conversations with Nelson, he said that he purchased the gun at a swap meet and his friend filed the serial number off. He was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
