Kingman Man arrested for firing warning shots at motorcyclist

KINGMAN - A 62-year-old Kingman man tired of off-roaders speeding near his home was arrested earlier this week for firing his gun as someone passed by.

David Bruce Troffer was arrested Monday on felony charges of disorderly conduct involving a weapon. Mohave County Sheriff's Spokeswoman Trish Carter said deputies were called out around 4 p.m. by a 20-year-old man, who said he was shot at while riding is motorcycle in the 2100 block of Quail Run Road.

Deputies drove to the location and found Troffer, who reportedly told them that he's tired of ATVs and other off-road vehicles speeding down the road.

He reportedly admitted to firing a pistol in the air as the man on the motorcycle drove by, but said he did so only after feeling threatened when rocks were thrown at him.

Troffer was booked into jail, and his gun was confiscated by the deputies.
