Jim Hugar, 65, of Golden Valley took his final journey Thursday, July 14, 2011. He was born March 18, 1946, to Louis Hugar and Hazel Lutz in Altoona, Pa.
Jim proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1963. He served two tours in Vietnam. During his service he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal three times, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his gallant service.
Upon his discharge from military service, he became a commercial truck driver, a job that he loved. He drove for more than 30 years. He retired from driving in 2001 and became a commercial driving instructor. He was an instructor at Mohave Community College until he retired due to health issues.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; sons, James Hugar Jr. and his wife Lupe, and Michael Hugar; daughter, Marilyn Bieger and her husband Philip; stepdaughter, Cecelia Pavek and her husband Joe; stepson, Travis Sulzer and many other stepchildren; brothers, Chuck Kaplan and Donny Hugar; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Hugar; and sister, Sandy Armstrong. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He left us too soon and will be missed by all who knew him.
At the family's request, there will be no formal services held.
