nrolled in the Kingman Parks and Recreation Summer Fun Daze took a trip to the Airport Authority's third annual summer camp.
About 50 kids separated into groups, which then made the rounds between six different presentations. Hualapai Tribal Police brought its K-9 unit, the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District was there with a fire engine and various pieces of fire gear, Guardian Air showed the kids a helicopter, Kingman Airline Services let the kids tour one of its jets, the Airport Authority had its fire engine out and the Transportation Security Administration gave presentations as well.
One of the event's organizers, Tim McComas, said the event has gotten bigger each year. Kids get grab bags full of goodies, coupons and stickers with positive messages such as ones associated with DARE, McComas said.
Local sponsors of the event included McKee Foods, Safeway, Smith's, KFC, Walmart, Papa John's Pizza and Taco Bell. They provided coupons, snacks and drinks, McComas said.
"It's just one big connection," McComas said. "And it's a good thing for the community."
