Gov. Jan Brewer presented the four cornerstones of the Arizona Competitiveness Package to more than 140 residents and local officials during a luncheon March 10 at the London Bridge Resort Convention Center in Lake Havasu. The visit came as part of a statewide trip raising awareness of the recently signed law. Brewer touted pieces of the package, including the formation of the Arizona Commerce Authority, a new educational reform plan, updating the state personnel and retirement system and the assurance of removing federal legislation that will hamper progress. Brewer also spoke about recent developments that could bring an Arizona State University campus to Lake Havasu City. ASU representatives announced a decision to open a campus contingent on a local foundation raising $2 million to help with renovation and operating costs. An official agreement has not been signed and the soonest the campus would be expected to open is fall 2012, according to reports.
