DPS identifies driver killed in accident

KINGMAN - The driver killed in a two-car accident on Highway 68 earlier this week has been identified as a 66-year-old Golden Valley resident.

The Department of Public Safety says Bill F. Barrick was westbound on Highway 68 near Union Pass when he pulled his 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier off to the shoulder just after 11 a.m. Monday. His car was then struck in the driver's side door by a pick-up truck driven by a 65-year-old Kingman man.

DPS said they aren't sure why Barrick stopped, but the accident occurred around the same time as when around an inch of hail fell in a short time-frame. The hail contributed to four other accidents that happened within a half hour of the fatal collision, including a single-vehicle rollover on westbound Highway 68 two miles east of Katherine's Landing.
