Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Melvin Fredrick Padgett, 43, of Dolan Springs Sunday for possession of dangerous drugs, resisting arrest and taking contraband into a correctional facility, all felonies. Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 17000 block of Manor Drive around 4:30 p.m. and contacted the driver, identified as Padgett. A records check showed the vehicle was not registered and the driver didn't have insurance.Prior to the vehicle being towed, a search was conducted.

Deputies allegedly located a small plastic bag containing a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. As deputies attempted to take Padgett into custody, he reportedly began to resist and struggle. Deputies were able to restrain Padgett, and he was taken into custody without further incident. Padgett was transported to the Mohave County Jail.

During the booking process, detention officers allegedly located another plastic bag containing more of a white crystal substance. Padgett admitted the substance was "dope" and that he had purchased it in Las Vegas. Padgett completed his booking process without further incident.
