On May 12, the heads of the five major oil companies were on Capitol Hill in Washington trying to explain to Congress why the price of gas is so high.
These guys have a reason for everything. The Democrats asked them why they need tax cuts with the multi-billion dollar profits they make. Then the oil company executives said if they take away the tax cuts the price of gas would go even higher.
I don't know about anyone else, but to me that comes under the heading of pure and simple blackmail.
If and when our elected officials in Washington decide that the oil companies need to be regulated like all of the utility companies, we are going to have to put up with their crap. These oil companies have gotten away with too much for too long. The oil companies raise the prices at will. If there is a catastrophe because of negligence, they raise their prices.
It is time for our elected officials in Washington to wake up and smell the coffee. Remember that when you go to the polls.
