Why did the 'missing' man cross the road?

SAR technical rope team reaches woman injured in Harley mishap

GOLDEN VALLEY - Mohave County Search and Rescue Kingman Unit had a long day Saturday.

Members of the unit were first dispatched Saturday afternoon to a missing person call near Telephone Cove on the Arizona side of Lake Mohave, when the National Park Service requested help in locating Darrell Roberts, 42, of Bullhead City.

Roberts' friends reported last seeing him near a boat launch ramp around 10 p.m. on Friday. He was eventually "found" around 4:30 p.m. Saturday while crossing a road in the area.

As the SAR Unit was on its way back to Kingman, another call came in from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office and Oatman Fire Department. A couple riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson trike westbound on Oatman Highway failed to make one of the curves and drove off the side of a cliff.

According to MCSO, the couple fell approximately 50 to 70 feet. The husband, who was driving, was able to climb back up to the road and call 911. His wife was not. The Kingman SAR Technical Rope Team arrived around 8 p.m. and pulled the woman back up to the road.

Oatman Fire Department treated both victims, and they were airlifted to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas.

According to MCSO, the man was treated for two broken ribs and released. His wife is being treated for a broken neck.
