KINGMAN - Today is going to be a golden day for Madie Delk, and not because it is Veterans Day, not because she has the day off from school, and not because there's a conjunction of planets in the sky that night.
Today it's Nov. 11, 2011 and it's her 11th birthday.
"I think it's really cool to have a birthday with all ones in it, 1-1-1-1-1-1 and be 1-1 on that day," Madie said. "I'm really excited."
"As each day has gotten closer, she's gotten more excited. We've been talking about her golden birthday for years," said Heidi Delk, Madie's mother. "We realized the day she was born that her 11th birthday would fall on that day and knew we had to do something special."
Her older brother has been giving her some grief about turning 11 on 11/11/11. Apparently there's supposed to be a conjunction of the planets in the sky that night, which her brother says will raise the ancient titans from the sea floor and destroy the earth.
Madie isn't taking him seriously.
She plans to have a birthday party with all the trimmings and her first slumber party to celebrate her special golden day. No titans have been invited.
