Weddings: Valen Fawson & Erick Proudfoot

On March 18, 2011, best friends became husband and wife. Valen Elizabeth Fawson married Erick William Landon Proudfoot in a backyard ceremony shared with family and close friends.

Valen is the daughter of Renie and Becky Fawson. Serving as her maid of honor was Ashlie Hudson. Her flower girl was Sara Proudfoot, sister of the groom.

Erick is the son of Glenn and Jill Proudfoot. His lifelong best friend, Kevin Vandeman, served as his best man.

Ushers were Zane Fawson, brother of the bride, and Glenn and Justin Proudfoot, brothers of the groom. Special guests were Deborah Liverence, godmother of the bride; Dorothy Craig, great-grandmother of the bride; Kent and Sharon Emel, and Mavis Fawson, grandparents of the bride; Ted and Leona Proudfoot, and William and Jayne Stephenson, grandparents of the groom; and Shawn and Karen Williams' family, who graciously loaned us their yard.

Valen's escort down the aisle began with her maternal grandfather who walked her to the bridge; she was then escorted to the altar and given away by her father. The couple was united in marriage by Erick's father, Glenn Proudfoot, and Judge Rick Williams. Erick and Valen were chauffeured away from the ceremony in a 1949 Desoto provided by Hoppy Long of Route 66 Wings and Wheels.

The ceremony was followed by a reception at the Powerhouse, where a pasta dinner was catered by Dora's Beale Street Deli and music was provided by DJ Art. The happy couple left for a honeymoon in Sedona and will reside in Kingman.

Valen is a 2010 graduate of Kingman Academy of Learning and is now employed by The Lingenfelter Center as an administrative assistant to the pharmacy manager. She is currently enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program at MCC. Erick is a 2006 graduate of Kingman High School and is a certified pharmacy technician at Desert West Pharmacy and is also studying to become a licensed personal trainer.

We wish them a lifetime of happiness.
