Lake Havasu - A National Public Lands Day celebration will be held from 8 a.m. until noon, Saturday, at the Colorado River Nature Center in Bullhead City.
The public is invited to the free event. Bullhead City, Arizona Game and Fish Department, the Friends of the Colorado River Nature Center, and the Bureau of Land Management Lake Havasu Field Office are co-sponsors.
"There will be something for everyone this year," said BLM Lake Havasu National Public Lands Day coordinator Kirk Koch. "Some of the events planned include nature and history presentations, interactive information booths, bird watching, geocaching, and volunteer projects such as vegetation pruning and trash clean up."
Koch added that the day's activities will be especially fun for school kids. There will be food, free items, and prizes.
"We're asking folks to please bring their own global position system (GPS) units for the geocaching event and don't forget to bring your gloves, hats, and sunscreen. We will also dedicate a wildlife viewing platform during the event."
The Colorado River Nature Center is located at the southwest end of Bullhead City, Arizona, next to the Colorado River.
The center is managed by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Bullhead City and BLM. It is a popular recreation area with hiking, fishing, picnicking and wildlife viewing opportunities.
To get to the Colorado River Nature Center take Route 95 south from Bullhead City about seven miles, then turn west on Richardo Avenue.
