Audrey Jean (Pederson) Harnisch was born Sept. 4, 1930, to Roy E. Pederson and Gladys (Masker) Pederson. She was born in the upstairs bedroom of her grandmother, Anna Christina (Hagenson) Pederson, and grandfather, Colbin Pederson's house in Gayville, S.D.
The family traveled to Rapid City, S.D., by train when Audrey was a baby to join their father, who worked at the Rapid City Cement plant. Audrey was educated in Rapid City schools and Spearfish College. She taught elementary school for four years.
On Aug. 27, 1951, Audrey married Carl A. Harnisch. To this union were born four sons. After the boys were raised, she became a registered nurse and enjoyed working at Kingman Regional Medical Center for 11 years.
Audrey passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, with her husband of 60 years at her side. She is survived by her sisters, Jo Ann (Pederson) Metcalf and Kay (Pederson) Leonard; her husband, Carl; four sons, Carl L. (wife Diane), Marc A. (wife Barbara), Paul E. (wife Teri), and Martin J. (wife DeAnna); six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Grace Lutheran Church, 2101 Harrison St., Kingman. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Audrey Harnisch to the Joan and Diana Hospice House, 812 Airway Ave., Kingman, AZ 86409.
