Jazz Combo on stage Sunday

KINGMAN - The Kingman High School Jazz Combo, under the direction of Michael Schreiber, will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at Metcalfe Park, the

final Sounds of Kingman performance of the year.

Jazz Combo members are Joanna Joe, Trace Turner, Shey Moser, Randy Cohen, Jacob Wheeler, David Joe, Mikaela Foresta and Stevin Laughlin.

The public is invited.

Suicide loss group forms

KINGMAN - Heartbeat of Havasu, a support group for those who have lost loved ones to suicide, meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at First Southern Baptist Church, 3120 Hualapai Mountain Road.

Big crowd expected for walk

KINGMAN - Over 2,000 people are expected to participate Wednesday in the Kingman Area Meth Coalition's 5th Annual Walk Away From Drugs and Keep Kingman Safe Public Safety Expo.

Participants will gather at one of three starting locations: Smiths, 3490 Stockton Hill Road, Fire Fighters Park, 2001 Detroit Ave., and the lot just east of Mother Road Harley Davidson, 2501 Beverly Ave., at 5:30 p.m. At approximately 5:45, the participants will begin the walk and end it at the Centennial Park near the north softball fields, where a DJ will provide music and free hotdogs and drinks will be available for participants.

Informational booths and public safety displays will be set up and there will be a safe place to dispose of old and unwanted prescription drugs. Also, awards will be given to coloring contest and poster contest winners.

In addition, there will be random drawings for prizes for those school-age kids who attend.

Dolan chili cook-off Oct. 22

DOLAN SPRINGS - A chili cook-off hosted by the Dolan Springs Chamber of Commerce starts at 10 a.m. Oct. 22 at Mt. Tipton School, with judging at 3 p.m.

A fundraising softball game between Mt. Tipton School staff and the Lake Mohave Rancho-Grapevine Mesa Fire District is also planned.

Trail event Oct. 29 at Dolan

DOLAN SPRINGS - National Trails Day and Dolan Springs Daze will be celebrated Oct. 29.

Events include a pancake breakfast, a trail event for hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers, ATVs and 4x4, a swapmeet, parade and gunfights.

Fall Festival getting organized

KINGMAN - The Parks & Recreation Department is organizing its 5th Annual Fall Festival, set for 1-5 p.m. Oct. 29 at Centennial Park.

It will include carnival game booths, a pie eating contest, a cupcake walk, candy in the hay, jump houses, hay rides, food vendors, entertainment, and the popular Halloween Costume Contest. Event bracelets that will allow the wearer unlimited use of games, the jump house, cupcake walk, hay rides, and candy in the hay will be sold for a minimal fee.

The Recreation Department is now searching for and accepting sponsorship donations for this year's event. Call Yvonne at 692-3111 for more information.
