Laurie Plummer of the Gardens Rehab Center Activities Unit and center resident Celeste Musgrove admire one of 18 homemade lap robes presented by the Kingman Elks Lodge No. 468 Veterans Committee and donated to the lodge by Donna Kowalske. The lap robes are for veterans and other residents in the center. Musgrove is a veteran who served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II. Musgrove shared an experience when presented with the robe: While serving at the first hospital of her tour, she said the sun had just set and the ward she was to supervise was getting dark. She asked someone to turn on the lights and was told they did not do it because all the young men under her care were blind.
