8-month-old baby drowns in the care of foster parents

KINGMAN - The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said an 8-month-old baby who drowned was in the care of foster parents at the time of the accident.

The baby was identified as David Whatahomigie.

The Sheriff's Office did not release the names of the foster parents and instead referred questions to Hualapai Tribal officials, who did not respond to inquiries.

The baby drowned in a bathtub at a home in the 10100 block of N. Ambush Drive in the Valle Vista neighborhood Sunday afternoon. No details on how long the child was left unattended were provided by the Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's Spokeswoman Trish Carter said the case would be forwarded to the Mohave County Attorney's Office for review.
