Recently, Emily R. Swenson was chosen by the Kingman Rotary Club as a Student Rotarian. Emily, 18, is a senior at Kingman High School. She is the daughter of Cary and Cynthia Swenson of Kingman.
Emily said she feels very honored to be selected. She feels the Rotary is such a beneficial organization, and they do a lot for our school and community. She feels honored to be recognized by them. She has been involved in Color Guard, Student Council class representative, Guide Dawgs vice president, National Honor Society president, SADD club secretary and various youth group organizations within her church. She also attended Arizona's Girls State as the Kingman Girls 2011 delegate. Her hobbies include photography, playing the piano and reading. She has been a receptionist, and currently works at Gas 'N' Grub. She also worked as a copy editor for the school newspaper.
In her presentation to the Rotary Club, her topic will be the importance of leadership in every aspect of her life. She plans to further her education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She will major in journalism and minor in political science. She plans to become a news reporter.
