Kingman Police arrested a 38-year-old man five days after he reportedly ran from a traffic stop and disappeared into the desert.

Eric D. Hardee was arrested Saturday afternoon after an anonymous tip came in that he was in the area of the Safeway grocery store at Gordon Drive.

Officers arrested him in the field behind the store after he tried to run from officers, said Capt. Rusty Cooper.

Hardee is said to have fled from a KPD officer on the afternoon of Aug. 7 after the officer said a Jeep allegedly driven by Hardee failed to stop at a stop sign.

Hardee drove off in the vehicle - which was later determined to be stolen - and led the officer down Andy Devine Avenue to the Kingman Station Apartments. He then allegedly ditched the stolen Jeep along with two friends still inside, Cooper said.

Officers followed Hardee down an embankment behind the apartment complex and across the railroad tracks to the Slaughterhouse Canyon area, where they lost sight of him.

Charges against Hardee are pending.
