Belles of St. Mary's: The Belles' annual Christmas Potluck is this Tuesday at 6 p.m. Please note the earlier start time. We will have an exchange of gifts (ornaments) and a guaranteed delicious assortment of foods! Advent: the arrival of something momentous; momentous: of utmost importance or outstanding significance. This is where we are - the first week of Advent. We prepare as we all anticipate for the glorious Gift from Heaven - Emmanuel, which is "God with us." Can you even grasp the majesty of what was given to us, the sheer magnitude of God's perfect plan? Those of us who are smart enough to learn, study and share the "Greatest Story Ever Told" are charged with the great responsibility. Our God did what Abraham was asked. Let's all shoulder our mandate from God and proclaim the true message of Christmas: Love and care for one another, which equals Love of God. Holy Day of Obligation: Saturday is the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Vigil Mass on Friday at 6 p.m. or Saturday at 8 a.m., either of these will fill our Holy Day obligation - not our Sunday obligation. Next on your schedule of appointments with our God: please list Wednesday. Our Hispanic community will re-enact the Apparition of Our Lady to Juan Diego in Mexico. This miraculous event brought the horrific practice of human sacrifice to an end, and the conversion to our faith was begun in the Americas. We continue by wishing you joy, peace and hope this Christmas, from all your Belles, to each of you!

Cerbat Garden Club: The fourth meeting of the season will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Johns Methodist Church, 1730 Kino Ave. Anyone interested in gardening, floral design, civic beautification and conservation of our natural resources is invited to attend. No gardening experience required. At the conclusion of our business meeting our members and guests will enjoy all of the goodies that they have made for our Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations. The highlight of this meeting will be providing Christmas decorations for Diana's Faith House. Garden Club members will then proceed to Diana's Faith House, bringing goodwill and cheer through decorations that they are providing to help the women and children celebrate Christmas in style. The women and children who reside there will receive a tree, lights and decorations for Christmas to provide hope and peace for the New Year. Please feel free to share your holiday goodies at the meeting prior to our departure for the shelter. If you have any questions, call Diana at 757-8659. Please leave a message if I'm not there and I will get back to you.
