A Golden Valley woman arrested earlier this year in a heroin sting tearfully pleaded guilty to multiple drug charges Wednesday.

Penny Bell, 51, is expected to receive 10 years in prison when formally sentenced next month.

She was arrested in May at a Golden Valley gas station along with her boyfriend, Stanley Joe Williams. Also arrested at the gas station were Michael Goodale and Goodale's girlfriend, Chyla Lee Cass.

Bell pleaded guilty to transporting narcotic drugs for sale as well as the sale or transfer of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Prosecutors said that had she gone to trial, Bell could have faced more than 10 years behind bars because of two prior felony convictions.

Bell was found with half an ounce of heroin at the gas station. Police said Bell and her boyfriend brought the drugs from Las Vegas to sell to Goodale.

Goodale has pleaded guilty to attempting to transport narcotic drugs for sale. Under the terms of a plea agreement, Goodale will receive 3½ years in prison when sentenced Jan. 4.

Bell's guilty plea also included a separate incident involving her attempt to mail a package containing cocaine.

A post office employee contacted police after Bell dropped off the package. Information about who the package was addressed to or how much cocaine it contained was unavailable.
