Q&A with Kingman mayoral candidates is today

Voters have two more chances to meet and question Kingman mayoral and Council candidates over the next week or so.

Your first opportunity comes at 11:30 a.m. today at the Elks Lodge when the Kingman Republican Women's Club holds a forum for the three candidates for mayor, incumbent John Salem and Bill Goodale and Ed Jones.

After the three briefly introduce themselves, the audience gets the opportunity to ask questions. There are time constraints, so limits will be placed on questions and answers.

The event, which will also feature a lunch buffet, takes place at 900 Gates Ave. and costs $13 to attend. For more information, call (928) 681-2654.

At 11:30 a.m. Feb. 20 at the Elks Lodge, the Kingman Republican Men's Club hosts a Council candidate forum. Incumbents Robin Gordon and Carole Young along with challengers Janice Palmer, Mark Wimpee, Larry Carver and write-in candidate Allen Mossberg have all promised to be there to introduce themselves and answer questions.

Laurence Schiff, the club's president, extended an invitation to candidate Kelly DeMaio, but at the time of publication he hadn't received confirmation she would attend.

The Republican Men's event will work similar to the one hosted by the Republican Women on Monday.

"There will be no pre-printed questions," Schiff said, who plans to steer the conversation toward the big issues currently affecting Kingman. "It will be free flow."

There will be a lunch buffet, and it costs $13 to attend. For more information, call (928) 530-3637.
