Body found in Arizona desert identified as New York traveler

Death caused by exposure, medical examiner says

KINGMAN - A body found off of U.S. 93 last week has been identified as that of a New York man.

Mark A. Dunham, 48, was reportedly traveling by train from New York to Las Vegas. His body was discovered in the desert off of U.S. 93 at milepost 62 last Wednesday afternoon by a passerby. Dunham's hometown is listed as Lockport, NY.

The medical examiner has determined the cause of death as exposure. Dunham's body was reportedly in the desert for several weeks before being discovered.

Mohave County Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Trish Carter said Dunham was not in good health. She said it's not known why Dunham was walking, although it's possible he was hitchhiking.
