A roommate is charged with stabbing a young father who had just put his son back into his crib.

Authorities are still trying to figure out why Kirk Patrick Moss II attacked the 25-year-old man with whom he had been friends for years. The father was roused by his son around 4 a.m. Wednesday and was putting him back into his crib in the living room when Moss reportedly attacked him from behind.

The father at first thought he was being punched but then realized he was being stabbed, according to Mohave County Sheriff's Spokeswoman Trish Carter. She said the man suffered four wounds to his leg and arm from a 6-inch knife.

After speaking with the victim at the hospital, deputies contacted Moss at the home in the 3200 block of Devlin Avenue. He reportedly gave several different stories and made statements that did not make sense. Moss was booked into the Mohave County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
