The new southbound lanes of U.S. 93 are now open to traffic, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The final work on the $26 million project, including landscaping and permanent lane striping, is expected to be completed by early July. Minimal traffic impacts are expected.
ADOT has dedicated nearly half a billion dollars to widening and improving U.S. 93 from Wickenburg to the Hoover Dam since the 1990s. Now, nearly 80 percent of the stretch from Wickenburg to the Hoover Dam is a four-lane divided highway.
ADOT is presently working on the roadway between Wikieup and I-40. Two more projects are funded for the next five years, which will leave one more three-mile segment to be completed.
