In loving memory of Kathy Annette Montoya who went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2012. Kathy was born Nov. 3, 1955, in El Dorado, Kan., to Perry Russell Gates and Cathern Gates.
When she was 10 years old her parents moved to Kingman. She graduated from Mohave County Union High School in 1973. She started her work career at Kingman Bakery, Peppermint Shop, and Yellow Front before ending up at General Cable-Southwire until their closing. She had just recently obtained her CDL, completed the truck driving course at MCC and completed her on the road training with Swift Trucking. She married Joe L. Montoya in 1986 and had two children, a daughter, Cherish Angelina; and a son, Robert Bo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Perry Russell Gates. She is survived by her two children, Cherish Montoya of Prescott Valley, Robert Bo Montoya of Kingman, and Lulu, her four-legged little girl. She is also survived by her mother (Mama), Cathern Gates; sisters, Debbie Smith, Julie (Ernie) Tapia, Mary Gates of Kingman, Karen (Greg) Johnson of Englewood, Colo.; 12 nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and nephews.
Kathy always had a smile for everyone and was a very loving mother, sister and daughter. She was always one to lend a helping hand at any time. Kathy went in her sleep covered up tightly in her covers with her favorite little game of Solitaire underneath her pillow. She now waits for us in heaven with our dad, so Daddy now has one of his little angels with him.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3575 Shaeffer Ave.
