A crowd braved the winds Saturday morning for the dedication of two memorials to honor Korean War and Vietnam War veterans at the Veteran's Memorial in Locomotive Park. William Gilfoil, commander of the Korean War Veterans Association of Mohave County and Ralph McKie, president of Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 975, headed the project, which began about two years ago. The groups raised money to build the memorials and the city of Kingman helped put landscaping in place.

Several officials and citizens spoke at the dedication, including Col. Joey Strickland, director of the Arizona Department of Veteran's Services, State Representative Doris Goodale and Kingman Mayor John Salem. They thanked veterans for their service to their country and promised that they will not be forgotten. Some veterans pointed out this goes for both officially acknowledged veterans as well as unacknowledged ones. Other people brought attention to Arizona legislation.
