Zelma Irene Cruse was born April 11, 1929, in Comanche, Okla., to Zelma Kathryn and Joseph Warren McLain. She passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Elk City, Okla., at the age of 82.
Zelma moved with her parents to Bakersfield, Calif., where she graduated from high school. She was married to Floyd Lavern Cruse in Bakersfield on May 8, 1943. They lived in California where they worked in agriculture and later moved to Arizona to serve as missionaries from 1963 to 1991.
They moved to Elk City in 1994. Floyd and Zelma were members of Elk City First Assembly of God Church. Zelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, three sisters and one brother. She is survived by one daughter, Donna (Bill) Kasch of Longview, Wash.; two sons, Daymon (ViAnn) Cruse of Kingman and Mark (Dianne) Cruse of Grove, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
