KINGMAN - Kingman Police said a man caught after a hit and run accident tried to bite a police officer at the hospital.
Kingman Police Capt. Rusty Cooper said 65-year-old Thomas Leroy White Sr., of Golden Valley, was combative when he was brought to Kingman Regional Medical Center Monday afternoon for injuries he sustained in an accident.
Cooper said White drove away from the scene of an accident on East Andy Devine Avenue near the intersection of Airfield Avenue around 2 p.m. Witnesses followed White and directed officers to him before police were able to stop him on Airfield Avenue near Harrison Street.
White was taken to the hospital after complaining of injuries from the crash. While at the hospital, White grabbed and attempted to bite one of the officers, Cooper said.
He was treated and later booked into the Mohave County Jail on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, failure to stop at an injury crash, driving on a suspended license and a warrant out of Bullhead City for failure to appear.
The other driver in the accident was said to have received minor injuries.
