Judith Klingbeil and a few other volunteers were cleaning up trash on a vacant lot next to Brenden Theaters recently. From left to right are Judith, Brenden Theaters employee Brandi Wanner, Brent Adams and Judith's daughter Katherine. Judith enjoys going to the movie theater, and noticed the rabbits running around in the trash that was collecting at the vacant lot next door. She stated that she had complained about the trash in the area many times and finally decided to do something about it. She called the property owner as well as informed Brenden Theaters, which donated trash bags and dumpster use. She hopes to do more cleanups in other places around town and welcomes other volunteers. She also hopes that people will be conscientious and not litter. "If people would tie up their trash bags, that would help (with litter blowing in the wind around town)," said Judith, who taught her daughter to give back, and this is her way of trying to improve things "instead of just sitting around." Her daughter Katherine said, "With all the tourism around here, you'd think we'd care (about the appearance of the area) more." For more information on cleanups, email Judith at jtmknit@yahoo.com.
