Milton Lee Smart, born June 2, 1944, in Phoenix to Joseph and Myrtle Smart, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, after a long fight with heart and lung disease and diabetes.
His siblings were Jim, Joe, Dan, Mae, Mary, Viola, Dorothy and his twin sister Mildred. Mary, Viola and Mildred are still living. His parents, Joseph and Myrtle, and siblings Jim, Joe, Dan, Mae and Dorothy are deceased.
Milton married Linda Smart, his long-time sweetheart. He was employed at J.G. Boswell in Bakersfield, Calif., as a heavy equipment foreman for 40 years.
He loved golf, fishing, antiquing, collectibles and swap-meeting with his sweetheart wife. He loved working with his hands or working with wood. He made a lot of wood art. He loved having fun and joking around.
Milton is survived by his son, Lester (Sara) Smart of Taft, Calif.; and his daughters, Carolyn (Ron) Ray of Taft, Cheryl (Rick) Keel of Bakersfield, Calif., Rhonda (Daniel) Hobbs of Bakersfield, Kelly Fajan of Bakersfield, April (Standley) Hopps of Kingman and Suzette (Tyler) Herreid of Kalispell, Mont.
He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, whom he loved and who all put smiles on his face; and many nieces and nephews, all spread across the United States.
Deceased are his dogs, who meant the world to him also - Sassy, October 2010; Scooter, 1996; Baby Girl, May 2012; and Bowser, 1994.
Daddy touched many lives of the people he met. Thank you to all family and friends.
Daddy was fun, corky, loveable.
A memorial service will be held in January in Bakersfield.
