Buddy Lee Hinkle, 74, of Lyons, Kan., formerly of Lincoln, Kan., and Kingman, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kan. He was born Oct. 16, 1938, in Salina, Kan., to Garland S. and Alma Virginia Hunt Hinkle.
Buddy worked for Grand Radiator Service for 20 years, Anheuser Bush for 12 years as sales manager, and was owner/operator of Coronado Gold Coin and Jewelry in Lyons until his retirement. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Kan., and attended Mohave Community College in Kingman. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1966 during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Hutchinson Coin Club. He married Marylin K. Matthias on June 5, 1960, in Lyons.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Marylin; daughter, Kimberly Kay Goertzen of Overland Park, Kan.; and grandson, Holden Lee Goertzen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland S. Hinkle and Alma Hinkle Cox; and his stepfather, D.B. Cox.
The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at Birzer Funeral Home, 214 West Ave. South, Lyons, KS 67554, officiated by Rev. Robert Friesen. Interment will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery.
