Hunt season meeting here Thursday

The Arizona Game and Fish Department will host a public forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday to discuss 2013 hunt recommendations for pronghorn, elk, and population management. The meeting is at the Kingman Game and Fish regional office, 5325 N. Stockton Hill Road.

Constituents who are interested in pronghorn and elk management will have the opportunity to discuss management direction.

"These meetings are a great way for sportsmen and other members of the public to stay informed and provide input into development of the hunt recommendations," said Big Game Management Supervisor Amber Munig. "We won't be proposing permit numbers at this point, but we will discuss generally where permit numbers might be headed based on survey data, harvest rates, and the hunt guidelines."

Following the public forums, the proposed hunt recommendations will be posted by Nov. 26 on the department's website at www.azgfd.gov/huntguidelines. The proposed hunt recommendations will also be available for public review during an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Kingman regional office.

No formal presentations will be made during the open houses. However, a knowledgeable staff person will be available to discuss regional hunt recommendations.
