Authorities have released the name of a Golden Valley man killed in a dune buggy rollover accident Friday.
Frank Ellis Stringer, 53, was driving the 1970 dune buggy north on Centennial Road when the vehicle hit a washed-out section of road about a mile south of the Arizona State Prison complex, said Trish Carter, spokeswoman for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
Both speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors to the crash, which was called into 911 shortly after 6 p.m. Friday, officials said.
Stringer was partially ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 54-year-old Golden Valley man in the passenger's seat was thrown from the buggy. He was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Neither man was wearing a safety restraint, according to the Sheriff's Office. Carter said the accident's location is not a part of the Mohave County Road system and is not a maintained roadway.
