County auctioning off surplus vehicles this week

Looking for a new car? Don't mind a few dings and dents? Then Mohave County has an offer for you.

A county auction of surplus vehicles started this week and continues until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The public can access the auction at: http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/mohave,az/browse/home?tm=m

All vehicles, parts and heavy equipment in the auction can be inspected by appointment only between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to Equipment and Fleet Division Manager Randy Janssen. Interested individuals can call for an appointment at (928) 757-0907 and select option 4.

Successful bidders will need to make payments to Public Surplus prior to picking up their items. Those payments can be made through PayPal, debit card, credit card, e-check, money order, cashier's check or wire transfer.

Payments must be made within five days after close of the auction.

For more information on payment procedures, call John Schneider at (928) 753-0752, extension 5.

For information concerning a problem with an online payment, call Public Surplus at (801) 932-7000, extension 0, and ask for a buyer contact support person.

All potential bidders will be required to post a bid deposit. The amount of the deposit will be $1 for small items and $100 for larger items for each auction of interest. This is in order to curtail a recent increase of non-serious and default bidders.

Each winning bidder must present a copy of his or her payment receipt and a valid picture ID to the Mohave County Finance Department (700 West Beale Street) to pick up the bill of sale and vehicle title.

If the new owner is going to have someone else pick up the title on his or her behalf, a signed authorization letter specifying the pertinent information of the title transfer is required.

New owners can bring their bills of sale and vehicle titles to pick up purchased vehicles at the Mohave County Public Works Motor Pool, 3675 East Andy Devine Avenue in Kingman, without an appointment.

Vehicles, vehicle parts and large equipment located at other sites can be picked up by calling (928) 757-0907, option 4, to make an appointment. Pick-up hours are 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
