A Phoenix pilot and his passenger escaped without injury after their helicopter crashed into Lake Havasu over the weekend.
The crash was reported just before 2 p.m. Saturday.
Mohave County Sheriff's waterway deputies who responded to the area southeast of Copper Canyon on the Arizona side arrived to find the helicopter completely submerged and its two occupants on the shore.
The pilot had reportedly taken a passenger up for aerial photographs of a watercraft when the helicopter lost altitude after coming out of a turn, said Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter.
The helicopter skids made contact with the water, causing the helicopter to flip upside down into the water, she said.
The pilot and passenger were uninjured and picked up by a boater in the area.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
