A great blue heron stakes out Ann Cherry's goldfish pond in the Hualapai Foothill Estates Monday. "I was hosing down the north side of the house when out of the corner if my eye saw a large bird fly behind (my home)," Cherry said. "I shut the water off and crept to the corner, thinking it was a hawk of some sort." The bird waited patiently for the goldfish to come to the surface. Cherry doesn't know whether or not it got one because the fish only come to the surface when she feeds them.
