KABAM! book festival wraps up this weekend

KINGMAN - The Ninth Annual Kingman Area Books Are Magic Festival, known as KABAM!, has been going on throughout the week and wraps up with events today and Saturday.

Schools and literacy groups hosted events to encourage an interest in reading. KABAM! seeks to celebrate authors, readers and local businesses by bringing the community together to celebrate the fun and adventure of reading.

Weekday events included author visits to local schools. The festival continues today with a poetry slam and concludes Saturday with an outdoor festival.

The popular KABAM! Poetry Slam will be held from 6-10 p.m. at Beale Street Brews and The Cellar Door, located at 418 and 414 (respectively) E. Beale St. Poets will recite their poetry and compete for cash prizes. Locals are encouraged to sign up and join in.

The Book Festival will take place in Metcalfe Park in downtown Kingman from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Featured authors this year are Brooke Bessesen, Janette Rallison, Maxwell Alexander Drake and the Miner's own JC Amberlyn. Area authors who will be selling and signing their books at the Author's Tent include Stephanie Ciofalo, Judi Flanagan, E.V. Medina, Sharon Poppen, Brenda Warneka and many more.
