KINGMAN - The man Kingman Police believe stole a newspaper delivery vehicle Nov. 26 was arrested on a host of charges after officers learned Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested James S. Mendoza on unrelated warrants last Thursday.
Mendoza reportedly stole a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck with its engine running in front of the Circle K on Stockton Hill Road and Gordon Drive. The theft occurred just before 4 a.m. Nov. 26 while the driver dropped off copies of the Kingman Daily Miner.
Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies chased the truck and its driver at least twice that day, but those pursuits were called off out of concerns for public safety.
Police said Mendoza denies any involvement in the theft, but he faces felony charges of unlawful flight, endangerment and unlawful use of means of transportation.
The truck has not been recovered.
