Reader Letter: Rangers ready to serve

Ken Dickey's points are well taken in his letter "Bring Back the Arizona Rangers" [Kingman Daily Miner, Feb. 4]. The Kingman Detachment of the Arizona Rangers was officially formed in April 2012, and we should achieve full company status this summer. Currently we have 10 Rangers in our detachment, with applications pending.

The Kingman Detachment recently initiated a meeting with the Kingman Unified School District along with the resource officers of the Kingman Police Department to offer our services to the schools. The Arizona Rangers are assisting law enforcement and schools in other areas of the state and there is no cost to the schools, city or state.

The Arizona Rangers train and qualify to Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board standards on baton, chemical spray and firearms. We carry $5 million per incident liability insurance that covers all sworn Arizona Rangers working a law enforcement assist or at private functions.

It is the goal of the Arizona Rangers to be an active member of the Kingman community. For more information, please contact me at azranger348@frontier.com.
