Edward "Eddie" Tena passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Kingman. He was the son of Jose Leon Tena and Rose Marie Schubert Tena. He was born June 8, 1960, in Baghdad, Ariz., and raised in the Baghdad/Prescott area. He graduated from Baghdad High School. At the age of 15, Eddie was in a serious motorcycle accident that nearly cost him his life. Doctors thought he would never walk again and the accident cost him his sports career. Eddie was in constant pain and fought through it his entire life. He was attending NAU Yavapai to get his bachelor's degree in chemical dependency/human resources. He had numerous awards for academics and was loved by faculty and students alike.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Pratt-Tena; his mother, Rose Marie Schubert; his siblings, Vera Tena, Frank Tena, Rose Marie Mancha, Gina Tena, Robert Camp and Ernest Camp; as well as his eight children and stepchildren, Jolee Tena (33), Samantha Tena (32), Edward Tena Jr. (30), Jessica Tena (23), Brian Oliver (25), Tiffany Tena (14), Thomas Pratt (25) and Katie Poe (20). He also had five grandchildren. The joy of his life (besides Vickie!) was his three beagles, Charlie Brown, Lucy and Marci.
Eddie's loving heart and generous spirit will be missed by everyone he touched. A celebration of his life and memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fluery Ave., Prescott, Ariz., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Beagle Freedom Project or an account has been set up in Eddie's honor at Mohave State Bank, 2202 Hualapai Mountain Road, Kingman, AZ 86401-8337.
Eddie, we are so glad your pain is finally gone, but we will miss you so much! We love you!
