Shirley Marie Shoemaker, 72, of Kingman, formerly of Swanton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 1, 2013, at Kingman Regional Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, to Earl W. Cain Sr. and Bertha E. Cain. On Dec. 22, 1956, Shirley married the love of her life, her soul mate, Ronald A. Shoemaker Sr. Together they had four children. She moved to Kingman six years ago from Orland, Ind.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Ronald A. Shoemaker Sr. of Kingman; her children, Jackie L. Bailey-Slabach (Nathaniel) of Orland, Ronald A. Shoemaker Jr. (Brenda L.) of Delta, Ohio, and Edward A. Shoemaker (Brenda I.) of Kingman; six grandchildren, Terry, Angel, Ronald III, Christopher, Jessica and Jacob; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by Donnie E. Shoemaker (stillborn); her sister, Velma L. Osterhout (Dec. 25, 2012); her parents; her sister, Hazel Hooker; brothers, Ray and Earl; and son-in-law, Terry Bailey Sr.
Shirley was a dedicated, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband of 56 wonderful years were a team; they raised a strong, loving family.
Shirley loved spending time with her family, woodworking, vacationing, and spending time with her loving husband at the casino.
Shirley made a donation of skin and sight to Donor Network of Arizona, and has donated her body to GenLife for scientific research.
