Francisco "Frankie" J. Esquibel Jr., age 73, a longtime resident of Bullhead City, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012.
He was united in marriage on Dec. 7, 1982, in Las Vegas to Neomi (Crickett) Esquibel. He was born and raised in Kingman.
He was an outstanding athlete and a Glendale Invitational Hall of Fame inductee in April 1999 for having the top effort of the decade while attending Kingman High School.
In 1958 he ran the mile in 4 minutes and 35 seconds. He broke three of KHS' track records, which stood nearly 20 years. He broke records for the 440-yard dash, half-mile and mile.
Feeling the great loss are his wife, Neomi (Crickett) Esquibel; four children, Francisco J. Esquibel III, Esteven M. Esquibel, Daniel F. Esquibel and Mone S. Esquibel Smith; stepsons, Greg Benson, Donny Benson and Troy Benson; 13 grandchildren, Daniel, Chelsea, Francisco, Steven, Emilio, Breanna, Sean, Savannah, Josh, Autumn, Kimberly, Keondra and Aaron; two brothers, Fermin R. Esquibel and Manuel E. Esquibel; his sister, Mary Ellen Kulina; as well as many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mercedes R. Esquibel and Francisco J. Esquibel Sr.
Rosary services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 302 E. Spring St. Interment and services will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1301 Stockton Hill Road. Immediately following the services, a reception will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2255 East Butler Ave., Kingman.
