Eighteen youth hunters and 10 volunteer mentors participated in a Junior Waterfowl Camp earlier this month. The youth received hands-on instruction in firearm safety, waterfowl identification, hunting and cleaning the birds. All the young hunters were successful, taking an estimated 60 waterfowl in two days of hunting. There were additional activities, such as archery, that were open to the public, and about 60 people participated in the event overall. The camp took place at Topock School and hunt took place at the Pintail Slough.
