KINGMAN - Heavy rains and gusty winds hammered the Kingman area Saturday afternoon, resulting in rainfall totals measured in inches for the area north of Interstate 40.

As of 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Mohave County rain gauges had recorded 2.72 inches of rainfall at Airway Avenue and the Mohave Wash, 2.52 inches near Northern Avenue and Route 66, and 2.40 inches near Gordon Drive and Route 66.

Downtown totals were closer to three-quarters of an inch of rain.

The deluge appeared to test the limits of Mohave Wash at a number of locations before the rain stopped and water receded.
