Archery event this weekend

KINGMAN - The Mohave Sportsman Club has a new archery director - longtime Kingman resident and avid bow hunter Taco Esquibel.

Esquibel has already planned another event for local archery enthusiasts. On Saturday, at the MSC's 7 Mile Hill archery range, there will be a 3D archery shoot and the public is invited.

Esquibel has planned a 30-target shoot that is going to be a pick-your-own-team event. The best score from an arrow shot by each member will be the one that is scored.

All shooters must sign in before 8 a.m. The shoot will start at 8:30 a.m.

The cost to enter is $20 per shooter ($40 a team).

Youth under 16 years old can participate in a trophy-only shoot for $10.

There is a 50 percent payback, with 65 percent of the cash pot going to the first-place team and 35 percent paid out to the second-place team.

Teams that don't win will be entered into a drawing where one team will win a $100 credit at Desert Archery, which donated this prize.

In addition to the team event, there will be a special long shot jackpot and a brand new "Pin It" shoot.
