KINGMAN - The largest team overnight striper fishing tournament of the summer, Stripe R Rama 22, is now accepting applications, according to Tournament Director Johnnie Hoeft.
Two-person teams compete in the event, which is sponsored by local businessman John Patel. This year the tournament will start at 7 p.m. June 29 and will end at 7 a.m. June 30.
The tournament will be held out of South Cove on Lake Mead.
The entry fee is $60 per team and can be paid with cash or check until June 21. After that, the fee will be $70 and will be cash only.
This is a 100 percent payback tournament (less expenses), with all the money collected being distributed back to the anglers. In addition, all anglers in this tournament, no matter where they finish, will receive a prize courtesy of Patel.
Hoeft said that plaques, trophies and/or cash prizes will be awarded to the five teams that bring in the heaviest 40-fish limit of striped bass.
Plaques and cash will be awarded to the two teams bringing in the heaviest stripers caught during the tournament, but a team can collect only one prize for the heaviest striper. The angler who catches the heaviest carp or catfish will also receive a prize.
Applications and a complete set of rules can be obtained by contacting Hoeft at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (928) 716-2616. Completed applications can be mailed or delivered to Hoeft at 2715 Bar Boot, Kingman, AZ 86401.
