Karen Marie Miller was born on Jan. 17, 1937, in Chadron, Neb., to Harley L. and Bertha L. Weaver. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and Scottsbluff High School in Scottsbluff, Neb. She attended Baptist College in Sioux Falls, S.D., majoring in library science. She completed her degree in Denver, Colo., and served on the library staff at Adair-Casey Community School in Iowa. She moved to Kingman in 1972.
Karen married Walt Miller in 1973 and added three children to her life: Bill, Jerry and Linda.
Karen worked at Citizens Utilities as an administrative secretary for several years and retired from Mohave Community College as an electronic services library technician.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Miller; her parents, Harley and Bertha Weaver; and son, Jerry Miller. She is survived by her son, Bill (Linda) Miller of Kingman; daughter, Linda (Chris) Anderson of Elmo, Utah; sister, Beverly (Bob) Douglass of Henry, Neb.; brothers, Ron (Ann) Weaver of Kingman and Bill (Eula) of Flagstaff, Ariz.; grandchildren, Kerrie Sherman, Krista Mounteer, Kelly Scovill, Cassie Mecham, Justin Miller and Kerrie Ciolkosz; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Karen was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Kingman; she enjoyed participation in the Walapai 4-Wheeler, Kingman Off Road Racing, and the Red Hat Society for several years. She took great pleasure in singing and doing many types of crafts. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, hug your loved ones each day.
