Drug arrests made after Kingman traffic stop

KINGMAN - Two Kingman residents were arrested on a host of drug charges Saturday, including trafficking, after police stopped the car they were in at about 3:45 a.m. on Northern Avenue at Arizona Street.

Dody Jean Esquerra, 35, and Corry Scott Johnstone, 30, were apparently nervous during the stop.

"Deputies observed both Esquerra's and Johnstone's hands to be shaking," said Mohave County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter in an email.

A search of Esquerra's vehicle allegedly revealed a lockbox containing three large plastic bags holding a white crystal substance, a digital scale and numerous plastic bags.

The pair was taken into custody and a body search revealed Johnstone was allegedly in possession of marijuana and Esquerra was in possession of a broken glass pipe with residue. She reportedly told deputies she removed the pipe from her bra and broke it.

Esquerra faces felony charges of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for transport, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.

Johnstone faces felony charges of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for transport, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Both were taken into custody without incident.
