Fred M. Smith of Golden Valley passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Kingman Regional Medical Center in Kingman. He was born Feb. 9, 1949, in Oklahoma City. He attended NW Classen and John Marshal High Schools. He grew up in the family's RV business, Smith's RV Sales based in Oklahoma City and Bethany; he evolved into the Mobile Home business for around eight years then found his passion for the open road as a long-haul truck driver until his retirement around 20 years later.
His parents, Mose D. and Margret D. Smith preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Diane Smith of the home; son, Fred Jr. of Oklahoma City; brother, Bob of Oklahoma City; stepson, Robert Graves (Donna) of Junction City, Kan.; stepdaughters, Reita Engling (Eddie) of Kansas City and Natoma, Kan., Robin Khuen (Geoff) of Hays, Kan.; grandchildren, Cricket and Jason; and great-grandchildren, WesLee, Athena, and Jonah; his son's mother, Marsha Smith (Gerald) of Oklahoma City; mother-in-law, Jannette Nedved of Plainville, Kan.; and best friends, Steve and Pam Johnson of Las Vegas Nevada.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City and a memorial will be held in Golden Valley on a future date.
