KINGMAN - The Mohave County Grand Jury indicted Robert Anthony Spano Thursday on charges of armed robbery and attempted armed robbery.
Spano's arraignment is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday before Mohave Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle.
Spano, 35, is accused of entering a Kingman convenience store on Oct. 3, armed with a baseball bat.
He allegedly took a swing at the clerk, but missed, before stealing lighters and a pack of cigarettes. Police said he then attempted to carjack a man in the parking lot to escape, but the armed driver confronted him and Spano fled on foot.
Kingman Police officers arrested him a short time later at a local motel.
Spano is alleged to be involved in an arson that occurred hours earlier at a home in the 3500 block of Butler Avenue.
He has not been charged in that case, which is under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff's Office and arson investigators.
